The CPO shirt, or Chief Petty Officers shirt as it came to be known was issued from the 1930's through to the 60's, and saw a multitude of variations from open topped pockets, two chest pockets, un-scalloped single pocket and the 1930 scalloped single pocket 1st version.
Buzz Rickson has chosen to recreate this first eye catching iteration, made not just for Petty Officers, but as a general cold weather uniform work shirt the the Navy these shirts could be worn by all officer ranks, though the 'CPO' nickname stuck.
This shirt is made from a soft boiled wool flannel in a deep dark navy blue colour verging on black, the scalloped shape of the pocket flap makes this shirt instantly recognisable and cut naturally trim designed to still be worn tucked in, though, just as wearable untucked.
All details have been recreated such as the fouled anchor stamped buttons synonymous with a CPO shirt, reproduction cloth Naval Clothing Factory label and fantastic custom made wool flannel, a great winter shirt to layer with with unbeatable original style.
