Pike Brothers Miners Hemp Shawl Collar Vest

In the turn of the century waistcoats or vests were definitely à la mode, being worn in all walk of life from bank clerk to labourer, though for a labourers needs they needed to be tougher, this vest is made out of a 14oz 50/50 mix of hemp and cotton denim, common for denim of that time, it has a tough, dry, slubby quality to it that will soften a fade over time. These vests are made to a simple 1900’s pattern with button front, small shawl collar, two patch waist pockets and cinch back. A nice touch to the simple construction is the visible selvedge seems inside the garment.
