Issued from 1944 right the way through till the end of the 60’s, the N-1 deck jacket has become an enduring piece of work-wear style, it’s functional, and simple design making it a favourite for post war bikers and hot-rod owners alike and being worn by the likes of James Dean and Paul Newman has entrenched in understated cool.
Originally being part of a three-piece set consisting of a jacket, dungarees & hat all made from the same ‘Jungle Cloth’ windproof and water resistant Bedford cord shell and double faced Alpaca lining they were made for working above deck in exceedingly harsh weather conditions at sea. Buzz Rickson make an superbly detailed reproduction of the 1944 issued version, with the correct weight double-faced Jungle-Cloth outer shell and woven Alpaca/wool blended lining, and faithfully reproduced components such as period correct zips, buttons and labels. This jacket has been through a 'sea water wash' process which gives the jacket the authentic look and feel of a jacket used all those years ago.
This is the closest reproduction of a deck jacket we have come across, and the quality of its constructions and components speak for itself, truly a jacket for life.
