Eastman G-1 Goatskin Leather Flight Jacket

The USN flying jacket has great appeal and is one of the most recognizable jackets of its type.

Originally coming out of a need for a tougher, harder wearing jacket than the previous fabric 37j1B the first iteration of this now iconic jacket was being issued by 1940. Designated the M-422 it is easily recognizable as the jacket we now identify as the G-1, and through the following An-J-3a & An-6552 contacts of 1943 very little changes. The first iteration of the G-1 code came in 1947, and this is the jacket Eastman has chosen to copy, still seeing service in Korea this G-1 is based around an original 55j14 spec contract manufactured L.W Fosters. This fantastic jacket, retains all the elegant design features of the previous contracts such as the beautifully scalloped pockets and USN stamp of the back of the collar but has a slightly shorter waist length fit to it, unlike earlier versions which tended to be longer. Small details about this contact make it an obvious choice to reproduce such as the individualistic extra pen pocket stitching and italicised U.S.N collar stamp, deep seal brown goatskin and rounded mouton collar. 

These jackets are very easy to wear with the belted back to ensure a comfortable close fit, and the bi-swing back and gusseted sleeve construction designed for a full range of movement and would enable a downed naval pilot to swim.
